hi, bean
ERROR: Unknown error, not managed for ID: b00p31h7
will you look through it?
cheers mate
Apparantly the BBC have changed the way one file is formatted during the 24th of mars, I'll try to have a look tomorrow.
It seems that the data is still there, just at a different place.
It is noot just this one, bbut almost all since this date (late in the afternoon).
Thanks bean. I'm getting withdrawal symptoms here
I've made the fix, I'll push it tonight (once back home), around 22 h CET.
It should be alright, except if the BBC changed something "down" the road from the part I fixed (which was the 3rd step).
Thanks in advance for the hard work bean. I appreciate it
It's working again!. Well done and thanks bean.
thanks bean, now it's all ok
Hi, sorry to bother... but do you know if there's anything that can be done to get the latest Doctor Who's sub? They are still unavailable even when shows released later are...
ERROR: Sorry no captions are available for episode ID: b00rs6t7
ERROR: No captions available for Doctor.Who-Series.5-The.Eleventh.Hour
INFO: If the episode was just recently added to BBC iPlayer, captions might be available later on for episode ID: b00rs6t7
Thank you in advance for your attention.
Hello.
Could we take a look at the source (minus the "sensitive" proxy details)?
I would really like to know how can I get to the subtitles file by just having the pid.
I mean I can get the playlist file but there is no mention of the subtitles and I did
not understand what exactly is the "2nd URL needed for the subtitles" that is mentioned
in the previous page.
pnixte,
Here how it works (that's the comment in the source file, that's what's explained at beehack):
# Four major steps are involved.
# Short description:
# 1 - get playlist xml file
# 2 - get stream xml file (requires an UK proxy)
# 3 - get subtitle xml file
# 4 - process file and provide zip with srt subs
# Full description:
# Example input is b008h368 (for the episodeID) and 127.0.0.1 (for the clientIP)
# Sucessfully retrieved files are cached locally to be able to recreate the
# subtitles even though the episode is not available for viewing anymore.
#
# 1 - get playlist xml file
# URL: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/playlist/b008h368.xml
# The file is only available when the episode is available for viewing, but the
# ID is always available from the program URL.
# We cache the file locally, to be able to reuse it to get the episodeName and
# the streamID needed to continue the processing so this way.
#
# 2 - get stream xml file (requires an UK proxy)
# URL: http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/4/mtis/stream/b008h32w.xml
# It requires an UK proxy to get the file, otherwise access is refused.
# It's the files containing all the streams availabled for the episode, the
# stream we want is the "captions" one, it contains the URL of the xml file
# with the subtitles.
# The file is only available when the episode is available for viewing, valid
# files are cached as well.
#
# 3 - get subtitle xml file
# URL: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/subtitles/ng/b008/h32w/b008h32w_prepared.xml
# This step is pretty straightforward, a simple download of the URL found
# previously. The file seems to be available all the time, ie. the test file
# for Outnumbered 2x06, aired 20/12/2008, is still available now (19/03/2009).
#
# 4 - process file and provide zip with srt subs
# For the moment, I create 3 srt files, 2 (Simple and Complicated) are created
# using basic regex processing, while the 3rd one (Unified) is using xml
# processing and should work whichever "format" the input file is.
# The 3 srt files are provided inside a zip file.
It seems I've got a problem with Doctor Who's script, episode 5 season 5.
The code b00s971z gives me "ERROR: Unknown error, not managed for ID: b00s971z"รน
How could that be fixed?
@minnie: it's "fixed", ie. this error is no more (it's basically that've got a bad file for the second step (this time a 404 error file), hence file can't be parsed correctly and it exits. It won't recover as the file is cached and it will always read this file. But as the subtitles is still not available from the BBC, it doesn't help much.
As it almost never happens, I haven't change the program to manage this error.
I've just added a few more info on the error messages to know when to contact, or not.
I'd say don't expect anything before tuesday now, as monday is a Bank holiday in the UK.
this week's most anticipated subs are still f*cking with us :P
ERROR: Unknown error, not managed for ID: b00s971z
INFO: This requires manual input from me (remove bad file), do contact me.
INFO: This doesn't mean that the subtitles will be availabled once I've removed the bad file, as it may still be unavailable from the BBC.
Bad file removed again. It appears subs are available now.

Thank you so much!
If ip 218.249.10.47 wants access back, it should stop asking for 5 subs at the same time (and lots of them), as it blocks the server, and other services running on it. => so contact me.
Yep, it shouldn't but it is becoming quite successfull, and it wasn't designed at all for so many subs (since it started), and it wasn't especially designed for concurrent access.
Hi Bean! Looks like ITV has its online player too.
D'you think your app for BBC iPlayer could be ported in any way to work with ITV online player?
AFAIK, they're still no still on ITV player.
